The SureSmile process is a technology-driven approach to orthodontic treatment that gives the patient straighter teeth in a shorter time than traditional braces. Shorter time, not by moving teeth faster, but by moving teeth more efficiently.
First, a small, hand-held scanner is used to create a 3-D, computerized model of the patient's teeth. Next, Dr. Fischer uses the computerized model to precisely design a treatment plan to correct the patient's crooked teeth. He can even test-design alternative treatments in the more complicated cases to pre-determine which plan will work the best for this individual patient. Then, according to the plan Dr. Fischer has selected, a robot bends a special wire to move the teeth into the relationship pre-determined by Dr. Fischer's plan.
In most cases, this special wire will not require changes or adjustments, like all traditional wires do. This means the teeth move more effectively, the patient does not need numerous "adjustment appointments" during the last one-half of their treatment, and the total time the patient wears braces is reduced a lot, by 40% in many cases.
