Braces! Why would anyone want them??
Sometimes there just isn't a 'clear alternative'...
We treat many patients with Invisalign®, but sometimes metal braces attached to the teeth are necessary (or requested by the patient) to correct an orthodontic problem. Dr. Fischer can discuss with you the 'good and bad' of all the different types of appliances available to help you straighten your teeth.
- Phase I-II vs. complete treatment - we believe most orthodontic problems should be corrected after most of the baby teeth have been lost
- Self-ligating brackets - a contemporary design, but not necessarily the best choice
- Auxillary appliances - expanders, anterioposterior correctors, Herbsts are all normally used in conjunction with braces
- Extractions - we are very conservative when recommending the removal of permanent teeth
- Treatment time - we will closely monitor your treatment progress to keep your time in braces to a minimum
